Can Ritalin cause mania/hypomania?

What you are feeling is normal for Ritalin. it is speed after all. No it is not mania or hypomania and no it does not mean you are Bipolar. It means you are having a perfectly normal reaction to Ritalin. Read the side effect list. It will go away after you have been taking the Ritalin for a couple of weeks. However it may mean that you do not have ADHD... or that maybe Ritalin just isn't the right med for you. My son took Ritalin for ADHD and it made him fall asleep in class.
