METHYLIN (substituted for RITALIN) prescribed to 17 year old?
Hi, I'm a college student at age 17 that uses Methylin on a regular basis during the semester. I live 4 hours away from my parents and 3 hours away from my psychiatrist. I see him every 3 months for a check-up and prescription. Last time I hadn't run out of my medication quite yet and was not aware of the 21 day expiration date on my Methylin prescription, so when I went to turn it in at the pharmacy it was void. It would take my parents 7 hours to come pick me up and head out to get it re-prescribed. Is there any way for me to drive up and have it prescribed without my parents there? They are willing to give consent over the phone but aren't sure about the rules. We're still trying to get the doctor on the phone, but they seem to be busy..I was wondering if anybody knew the laws for this or a link to help me out. I live in Texas; I don't know if that matters or not.
